SCENE I. MRS. DARKBLOOM’s house. Bristol. In the late night a mother named MRS. DARKBLOOM torturing her only daughter named HOLLY. She hit her cruelly, shout at her while all HOLLY can do is crying and asking forgiveness from her mother. This is the daily situation at MRS. DARKBLOOM’S house, since MR. DARKBLOOM dead a year ago, MRS. DARKBLOOM never treats HOLLY well and always tortures her every day without a reason.

MRS. DARKBLOOM (Shouting at HOLLY). Stop crying or I will hit you harder!

HOLLY (Crying). I’m sorry mum, but I’m really hurt..,

MRS. DARKBLOOM (Threatening HOLLY). I don’t care and no dinner for you tonight!

SCENE II. HOLLY is on her way to school. She attends her senior year at Bishop Road Primary School in Bristol. In front of school she sees her friend’s parent walking them to school and she feels sad as her mum never walks her to school. In class, HOLLY doesn’t really pay attention because she still hurt as her mother tortured her last night and didn’t give her dinner so HOLLY feels hungry as well. MISS RAY or HOLLY’s math teacher realizing this situation.

MISS RAY (approaching HOLLY). Holly, are you okay? (asking MRS. RAY but HOLLY doesn’t hear) Holly, hey.

HOLLY (shocking). Ah yeah.

MISS RAY. Are you okay? Did something bad happen?

HOLLY. Ah no, I’m alright.

MISS RAY (asking curiously). Why didn’t you pay attention then?

HOLLY. Ah, maybe I’m just a bit sleepy Miss. Ray, I’m sorry.

MISS RAY. Okay Holly. Remember, if something bad happen to you can tell me

HOLLY (smiling). I will Miss Ray, thank you.

SCENE III. At the time break HOLLY sit alone in School Park. She still thinks about how life is so unfair for her. HOLLY feels very hungry as her mother didn’t give her dinner last night and her mother also didn’t give her money to buy food. Then JAMIE, HOLLY’s classmate joins HOLLY and sits next to her.

JAMIE. Hey, can I sit here?

HOLLY. Yeah sure.

JAMIE (offering sandwiches). Do you want some? (HOLLY shakes her head) Oh come on, this is too many sandwiches and I can’t eat those alone. Please help me to spend on these.

HOLLY (taking one of JAMIE’s sandwiches). Thank you Jamie.

JAMIE. Anytime, but emmm, Holly can I ask you something?

HOLLY. Sure.

JAMIE. Every day I look at you, you always look sad. What happen?

HOLLY (a bit shocking). Uh? I’m alright.

JAMIE (persuading HOLLY to tell him her problem). Come on Holly just tell me, I’m your friend.

HOLLY. Okay then I will tell you something but I want you to promise not to tell anyone. Can you?

JAMIE. Oh sure, Holly. I promise I won’t tell anyone.

HOLLY. I just want a happy family, Jamie.

JAMIE (acting like he doesn’t understand). Eh, what do you mean?

HOLLY. I want to have parents who will love me. My dad was passed away last year, and my mum never loves me since then. She always tortures at me every day and she never walks me to school. Even last night she didn’t give me a dinner, so I really thankful you share your sandwiches with me.

JAMIE. I’m so sorry Holly. But why your mum is so cruel?

HOLLY. I don’t know. She becomes like that since my dad dead. Maybe it is because we live in poverty family and she considers me as a charge.

JAMIE. I’m sorry once again Holly. Oh, could you come to my home for dinner with my family tonight?

HOLLY. I would like to but I guess my mum wouldn’t give me permission.

JAMIE. Oh, that’s so bad. But Holly, you can come to my home without your mum knowing

HOLLY. Ah okay I will try then.

JAMIE. Good, I’ll pick you up at Canford Park at 7.”

HOLLY. Okay.

SCENE IV. At 7 pm HOLLY walks to Canford Park with a happy feeling because she finally meets a friend whom she could shares with . Luckily, her mum is not at home so she could meet JAMIE who is already there when HOLLY arrives.

JAMIE. Glad you come, Holly.

HOLLY. Yes and I’m lucky my mum is not at home.

JAMIE. Good lets go. My parents are waiting for us.

Then, unexpectedly MRS. DARKBLOOM is in Canford Park as well.

MRS. DARKBLOOM (yelling). Where the hell are you going? How dare you going out without my permission.

HOLLY (trembling). I…I…I want to go to..,

JAMIE (cutting HOLLY’s word). Good evening Mrs. Darkbloom. I’m Jamie, Holly’s friend and I invited her to come to dinner at my home.

MRS. DARKBLOOM (shouting). I don’t care! Let’s go home! (MRS. DARKBLOOM drag HOLLY harshly. JAMIE follows them to their house. At DARKBLOOM’s house MRS. DARKBLOOM hits HOLLY).

HOLLY (crying). I’m sorry mum, I’m really sorry.

MRS. DARKBLOOM (shouting while torturing HOLLY). Shut up you uneducated girl, you didn’t even ask my permission and just go out! Who do you think you are? Do you want to escape for me? Do not ever dream little prick!

JAMIE. Please stop it, Mrs. Darkbloom! It’s my fault, I force her to come to my house.

MRS. DARKBLOOM. You better hands off from my family and go home little boy.

Witnessing this situation, JAMIE goes out from HOLLY’s home and he knocked to HOLLY’s neighbor to borrow a telephone to call police and ambulance. Less than fifteen minutes later the police come and take MRS.. DARKBLOOM with them. The ambulance also came right after the police and JAMIE accompanied HOLLY in ambulance.

HOLLY (lie down inside the ambulance). Thank you so much Jamie. I’m really glad to meet a friend like you

JAMIE. Keep strong, Holly. (later HOLLY falls unconscious)

SCENE V. HOLLY was taken to the emergency room as soon as they arrives the hospital. One hour later THE DOCTOR comes out and approaching JAMIE.

THE DOCTOR. We did our best but we are really sorry because we couldn’t be able to help your friend.

JAMIE (sobbing). What do you mean doctor? Don’t be kidding at this time!

THE DOCTOR. We are not kidding. We are really sorry but your friend is rest in peace now and we find this letter in your friend’s pocket (the doctor giving a piece of paper to JAMIE).

JAMIE (opens and reads HOLLY’s letter suddenly). Dear God, I know you love me. And I know you are the only one who loves me. Is anybody there loves me? Well I guess there is not. Even my mom doesn’t love me. How can anybody love me?.

Dear God, I know you have a heaven for me. But before you take me there, can you please make my mum love me for at least one day? I want to eat with her, I want her to walks me school, picks me up from school, kiss me and plays together with me. Please let this happen God, because I love her and I want her to love me too.

JAMIE (crying after finishing read HOLLY’s letter). I will never forget you Holly. I hope you have a better life in God’s heaven till we meet again in there (smiling with tears).
